Two years ago, I moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, not knowing exactly what would come next—just trusting that this new move with my husband to start our USA journey was what I needed at the time. I had been teaching yoga for many years overseas, both in-person and online, but starting over in a new place brought a mix of excitement, vulnerability, and a whole lot of unknowns.
When I first arrived, I knew I wanted to share yoga with the community, but like many journeys worth taking, it wasn’t exactly smooth from the start. I didn’t have a clientele base, so I couldn’t open a studio right away. I bounced from space to space—borrowing rooms, rearranging schedules, hauling mats and blocks from my car to wherever I could set up for a community class. Sometimes there were two people in class, sometimes eight. Every class, no matter how big or small, reminded me why I love this practice. Even in those early days, I could feel something building, slowly but surely.
Beaver Dam surprised me with its warmth and openness. People showed up curious, kind, and willing to try something new. Word started to spread. One class turned into two, then three. Now, two years in, I’m incredibly grateful to be offering five weekly classes—split between the beautiful Dodge County Center for the Arts and the energetic, welcoming space at Momentum Gym. Both locations have allowed me to create a sense of consistency and community, and to really settle into what I hope is a lasting presence here.
This year, I received the news that Audrey’s Yoga was voted Best Yoga Studio in Dodge County for 2025. To say I was honored is an understatement. I started with just a borrowed room and a few mats—and now, thanks to this amazing community, I get to do what I love in a place that feels like home. I’ve met so many incredible people along the way, many of whom have become regulars, friends, and inspirations to me in my own life.
It hasn’t always been easy. Growing something from scratch never is. But every up and down has shaped this journey and made me more grateful for where I am now. To those of you who’ve taken a class, shared a kind word, or simply encouraged someone else to give yoga a try—thank you. You’re the reason Audrey’s Yoga is thriving in Beaver Dam.
As I look ahead, I’m excited to keep building, keep learning, and keep sharing this practice that has brought so much growth and joy into my life. Whether you’ve been with me since the beginning or are just stepping onto your mat for the first time—I’m so glad you’re here.
With much gratitude,
Audrey
